Membership in The Student Society of Hogwarts is open to all students and faculty of the University of Massachusetts, Boston, irrespective of race, color, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. However, in order to fully participate in this organization the member must be registered as a user of the free website: Pottermore.com, and have been sorted into one of the four houses. If an individual wishes to join this community but forgets or is unable to obtain their username or password, they must create a new account and be re-sorted on this website. It is imperative that each member be sorted on Pottermore.com because the assigned house will have an impact on many of the activities that the member will be invited to join.

Each member of The Student Society of Hogwarts has the ability to raise concerns or new ideas about the club’s mission and events. We want everyone to feel comfortable enough to give constructive feedback on how to improve the organization as a whole. This being said, members can either announce their ideas in an entire organization meeting, to their individual house leader, write their thoughts down on a piece of paper and hand it to the Secretary at the end of a meeting, or even e-mail a house leader explaining their proposal.

In an attempt to emulate the founding of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, there will be four house leaders, one rising from each of the four houses. Already having four founders of this club, each from one of the four houses, we will take over these positions for the next full school year.

Each house leader is to hold their position in office for one full school year.

At the end of the school year (namely the last meeting of the year) the current house leaders will choose a successor within their house (members sorted on Pottermore.com into that specific house) to follow in their footsteps for the coming school year.

If members of a house are dissatisfied with their house leader, they have the ability to take this concern to their fellow house members and to the other house leaders. If such action is taken, a special meeting may ensue to approach the house leader with any concern. If still dissatisfied, the members of the house in question have the right to take a vote to impeach the house leader of their position. If there is a majority vote to impeach the current house leader, it is the responsibility of the members of this specific house to elect a new house leader.
